SFTP Mounting

Turn remote SSH servers into local drives on Android. Open, edit, and save remote files directly inside any mobile application.

Turn Remote Servers into Native Android Drives

Stop struggling with clunky terminal text editors over high-latency connections. With SFTP Mounting, Casshper bridges your remote SSH servers directly into Android's native Storage Access Framework (SAF). Open remote files in VS Code Mobile, Markor, QuickEdit, or your favorite code editor on Android as if they were stored locally on your device.

Foreground Drive Persistence

Mounted drives run as a high-performance system service. Your remote volumes remain mounted seamlessly while switching apps or running in the background.

Pro Features

  • Native System Drive Provider: Mounts remote SSH directory trees directly into Android's native Files app drawer.
  • Transparent Auto-Sync: Streams file data on demand. Any edits saved in third-party mobile apps are automatically committed back over SFTP.
  • Enterprise Authentication: Supports standard passwords, RSA/Ed25519 key files, and Android Keystore hardware key signers.

Mounting a Remote Drive

  1. Open Casshper and open the sidebar menu to view your saved connections.
  2. Tap the options menu icon next to your target host (or tap the host inside Connection Manager) and select Mount.
  3. Select Browse (System) from the menu (or open Android's native Files app)—your remote host appears under Storage Providers in the sidebar drawer. You can also select Browse (Internal) to use Casshper's built-in file manager.
  4. Open, edit, and save files across any mobile app. All changes commit back instantly over encrypted SFTP.
  5. To safely unmount, tap Unmount in the status bar notification or re-open the host's options menu in Casshper and select Unmount.
