Contextual Themes

Assign distinct color themes to individual active sessions via the active session menu in Casshper Pro Admin.

Per-Session Themes for Visual Environment Distinction

Running commands on a production server when you thought you were on a staging box is every sysadmin's worst nightmare. In Pro Admin, Contextual Themes allows you to assign distinct color themes to individual active sessions directly from the active session menu, eliminating ambiguity when multitasking across server tabs.

Environment Safety and Visual Recognition

Assign high-contrast dark or alert themes to production connections while keeping staging sessions in cool slate tones for immediate visual distinction when switching tabs.

Pro Admin Highlights

  • Per-Session Theme Selection: Change the theme of any individual active session tab on the fly from the session context menu without affecting global app defaults or other open tabs.
  • Persistent Server-Specific Themes: Set dedicated palettes directly inside Saved Connections bookmarks so sessions initialize in production, staging, or development colors automatically upon connecting.
  • GLOBAL Fallback Badges and Quick Reset: Theme selectors across connection profiles, soft keys, and gestures feature an intuitive GLOBAL badge indicating inheritance from global settings, with a single-tap RESET option to clear overrides.
  • Visual Isolation: Instantly recognize which server environment is active when cycling through tabs using touch gesture sequences.
  • Zero Performance Impact: Per-session palette changes update the GPU canvas state directly in Ghostty without re-initialization.

Setting a Per-Session Theme

  1. Open Casshper and open the sidebar menu.
  2. Under the ACTIVE sessions section, tap the options menu icon next to your target session tab.
  3. Select Session Theme from the menu.
  4. Choose your desired theme (e.g., Solarized Red for production or Tokyo Night for staging).
  5. Your active session updates immediately while preserving distinct themes on all other open session tabs!

To configure your master theme default for all new sessions, see Terminal Themes in Core Features.

Theme Action Triggers and Quick Switching

In addition to using the sidebar menu, Pro Admin lets you trigger theme changes instantly using action bindings on toolbars or gestures:

  • Theme Picker Button: Add a dedicated Theme Picker action button to your Soft Key Bars to open the palette selector modal in a single tap.
  • Direct Theme Actions: Bind specific contextual palettes directly to soft key buttons or Custom Gestures for one-touch visual alerting when switching between production and staging environments.

See Action Bindings and Terminal Commands for complete technical details on theme actions and keycode configurations.
