• Dynamic Theme Integration: The drag handles, bounding stems, and floating toolbar dynamically adapt their accent colors and background shades to match your active terminal theme.
• Smooth and Jitter-Free Dragging: Tuned drag sensitivity ensures the handles track your fingers naturally without jumping or stuttering during fast text selection.
• Floating Quick-Copy Button: An immediate, floating action button lets you copy selected text straight to your Android system clipboard in a single tap without invoking the software keyboard.

Soft Key Bar Themes and Visual Customization

Visual clarity is critical when operating across varied terminal environments. In 1.257.0, Soft Key Bars now support independent per-bar color theming:

Dynamic Soft Key Bar Active State Actions

To keep the mobile terminal viewport spacious while retaining rapid access to complex toolchains, 1.257.0 introduces dedicated controller actions for managing active soft key bars:

• Toggle Bar Active State: Toggles the visibility of a specified soft key bar on or off.
• Set Bar Active: Explicitly brings a target soft key bar into the active toolbar stack.
• Set Bar Inactive: Dismisses a target soft key bar from the active toolbar stack.

Previously, TEXT action bindings injected strings into the terminal input buffer, requiring a subsequent tap on the Return key to execute the command. In version 1.257.0, TEXT actions now include an optional Send Return after text setting:

• One-Tap Execution: When enabled, Casshper automatically dispatches a Return event (ASCII Hex 0x0D) immediately after injecting the text payload.
• Instant Command Macros: Trigger complete commands like git status, sudo -i, docker ps, or exit with a single button tap or touch gesture.
• Preserved Buffer Mode: When unchecked, text remains in your input prompt for interactive editing before execution.

Grouped SFTP Download Notifications and Queue Management

While SFTP transfers have always operated smoothly in the background, version 1.257.0 brings full visual transparency and interactive queue control directly to the Android notification shade without needing to reopen the file browser:

• Grouped Notification Summary: A clean summary notification keeps your notification shade tidy while displaying overall transfer status (such as active and queued counts).
• Real-Time Transfer Progress: Active downloads display a determinate progress bar, percentage completion, and transfer metrics with a quick Cancel action.
• Interactive Queue Reordering: Queued transfers feature interactive notification buttons:
  • Up (▲) and Down (▼): Move waiting downloads up or down in line.
  • Download Now (⚡): Instantly prioritize an urgent transfer to the front of the queue.
  • Cancel (✕): Remove a pending download from the queue.
• Seamless Background Download Queue: Files download smoothly one by one in the background, keeping your active SSH terminal connection responsive and fast.

Built-in Native Terminal Image Viewer (icat)

Inspecting visual assets, generated diagrams, and build artifacts from the command line is now built right into Casshper. We have replaced external dependencies with a lightweight, first-party native C utility (icat):

• Native Kitty Graphics Streaming: Renders images directly within terminal sessions using the Kitty Graphics Protocol with minimal memory overhead.
• Built-in CLI Command and Diagnostics Script: Run icat /path/to/image.png to render images and plots directly inside your terminal, or execute the bundled ~/preview.sh diagnostics script to audit colors, fonts, and inline graphics support. Read our complete Terminal Graphics Guide.
• Zero External Bloat: Fully integrated into the native Android runtime without external dependencies.

What These New Features Enable: Modern Mobile Engineering Workflows
